How can I prepare for my first therapy session?

It’s natural to feel a little nervous before your first session. To prepare, take some time to reflect on what brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. Jot down any questions, concerns, or goals you’d like to discuss. Remember, this is your time, and there’s no “right” or “wrong” way to show up!

How do I know if you’re the right therapist for me?

The therapist-client relationship is an important part of the healing process. During our initial session, we’ll explore your needs and goals to determine if we’re a good fit. If for any reason it doesn’t feel like the right match, I’m happy to provide referrals to help you find the right support.

What happens if I need to reschedule?

Life happens! If you need to reschedule, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a late cancellation fee. I’ll do my best to accommodate your scheduling needs and find a new time that works for both of us.

Do I need a mental health diagnosis to start therapy?

No diagnosis is required to begin therapy. Many clients seek support for personal growth, life transitions, or managing stress. Whether you’re facing a specific challenge or just want a safe space to talk, therapy can be tailored to your unique needs.

How do I know when I’m ready to end therapy?

The decision to end therapy is a collaborative process. Together, we’ll evaluate your progress and discuss your goals to ensure you feel confident moving forward. Many clients choose to return for periodic sessions as needed, and that’s always an option if new challenges arise.
